Job Summary:

The Pad Printing Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining pad printing machines to transfer images, logos, and designs onto a variety of substrates such as plastic, metal, or glass. This individual ensures that the printed images meet quality standards and that production goals are achieved efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machine Setup and Operation:

    • Prepare and set up pad printing equipment and materials, including inks, pads, plates, and fixtures.
    • Adjust machine settings for different production runs according to product specifications.
    • Operate pad printing machines to print logos or designs on products in accordance with work orders.
  • Quality Control:

    • Monitor the printing process to ensure the image is applied accurately and consistently.
    • Perform routine inspections on printed products to ensure color accuracy, positioning, and overall print quality.
    • Make adjustments to machines to correct issues such as misalignment, ink smudges, or printing errors.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform basic troubleshooting of equipment, including changing pads, cleaning ink plates, and resolving minor mechanical issues.
    • Conduct routine maintenance of pad printing machines to ensure smooth operation.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team for more complex repairs or adjustments.
  • Inventory and Record-Keeping:

    • Maintain adequate stock of consumables such as inks, pads, and cleaning solvents.
    • Accurately document production numbers, quality control results, and machine downtime in logbooks or digital systems.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow company safety protocols and ensure a clean and organized workspace.
    • Comply with industry standards and company policies regarding machine operation and product quality.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in pad printing or a similar production role preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Familiarity with pad printing machines and related equipment.
    • Attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot printing issues.
    • Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, or blueprints.
    • Basic understanding of color theory and ink mixing (preferred).
    • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to ink and solvents.
